Hank Stairs Recalls His G.I. Eyeglasses

The first time I met Hank Stairs, at Fort Indiantown Gap (January 2012), the first thing he said to me was, "Hey! G.I. glasses!" He then reminisced about the pair he was issued and how they "almost got him the Purple Heart!" He told me how he jumped out of the back of a deuce-and-a-half, and upon landing, his helmet came down and forced his glasses into his nose, causing him to bleed profusely!
